Losing a label…and it feels good

My child is no longer considered an allergic child.  She passed her introductions to soy and gentle dairy with no allergic reactions.  Today we got the green light for full on dairy, including her transition to whole milk, as well as cooked egg (as part of a food, not egg by itself like an omlette or scrambled eggs).  She’ll get checked up in 6 weeks but if things keep going the way they are, I don’t expect to see the gastro for another year, and then perhaps once after that assuming nuts go well.

To celebrate Elanor’s achievement of NOT having allergic reactions to dairy any more, we gave her an ice cream sandwich for dinner.

Y’all can call me a bad mom for that, but just look at this happy little face and tell me it wasn’t worth it…

To me, the best thing is seeing how opening up Elanor’s diet has completely flipped in terms of her growth. 7 months ago, her food intolerances were the first thing that interfered with her weight gain and restricting her diet was what she needed. Now, it is the opposite… opening up her diet is helping her put on weight. It is so amazing.
